Tulips and daffodils are for sale by the cartfull at the nursery. I planted 150 of these buggers in the front/back yard a couple months ago, so the happy colors I saw flourishing at Lowe's today were are foretaste of the domestic landscape to come.
I am grateful for the recent rain. May it come down in biblical proportions this next month, so that N. Calif does not become a desert. I plan to have a veggie garden this summer, but if we do have to conserve by %50, there goes that idea. Today I did do a modest kickoff to this season's gardening by planting cilantro and basil. It is easy to care for, and won't send me to debtors prison over the water bill.
Today Savannah and I hung out at the play cafe all morning. There was a slightly older boy there who Savi played with quite nicely. This was great because oftentimes kids show up to play who have no desire to share. The wierd and annoying thing about his grandmother was that she kept hollering at him to be quiet. Quiet? It's a play place for the love of Sam. Clearly she has not been there before, or she would know that a play area is for laughing and making noises. I held my tongue, but yeesh. Finally he knocked over a block and she cleared him out of the play area. Poor boy.
GB is in the recording studio again. We spent 19 hours in there this past weekend. I am in the process of looking for a celtic love song to sing on this new album entitled "celtic love songs". I have been searching on itunes and youtube for material this evening, while John got in some Savi time. John also brought home dinner from a new find: Wingstop. It is all about chicken wings done in different styles, as well as typical side-dishes. Not bad at all. He went to help support a fundraiser for his school's water polo team, but he said the place was a ghost-town. Hope they made some $$.
New home entertainment news: John found me a karaoke version of Abba!! It connects with our Sony PS2, and uses two "Singstar" mics. The mics are on the way, and I plan to have Savi up and running with Abba in short order. We need killer costumes too. I loved what Merryl Streep did with the music on the movie "Mama Mia" last year. Now those were some threads they wore...
Boxing update: I have been taking a class for a couple months now at the gym. Lots of physical conditioing involved. I wear pink gloves, and so does several of the 12 or so gals in the class. Sometimes there is up to 50 folks in the class, which gets a little smelly since its in a 'dance' studio. We spar with the coach, and I barely last one minute before I am completely spent. I have a new level of respect for the sheer athleticism in Boxing.
When will Spring arrive? I can't keep taking Savi to this one play place, or just cruise around Target. In this zip code, you have to try hard to find winter/indoor stuff to do. Running out of ideas...Abba anyone?
Thrilling domestic goddess update: we just cashed in our Citi rewards points for a hoover carpet steam cleaner! Thank goodness!!!!
